The cigarettes, you dolt!
His life, his interests, his sometimes quirky frame of mind in words and pictures. A flyover of my life.

Linda: The Most Popular Girl's Name in the Warren Area High School Class of 1968
Lil-Lil, Lil-Lil-Lil, Lil-Lil-Lil-Lil Linda.
Based on the Social Security Administration's list of popular baby names for the year 1950, when the majority of the WAHS class of '68 was born, this fact should come as no surprise.
Linda ranked in the top ten for 26 years -- from 1940 through 1965 -- and was #1 from 1947 to 1952. (It hasn't been doing so well lately.)

Grandpa Luthgren in the News (1944)
My maternal grandfather, who was 54 at the time.
Photo included with the article "Springfield Teachers Prepare Booklet for the Next Campaign Against Tuberculosis", in the March 12, 1944, Springfield (Mass.) Sunday Union and Republican.
I found this not-too-badly-yellowed news clipping yesterday evening while looking through some long-neglected envelopes, boxes, and file folders. More than once I silently exclaimed, "So that's where I stashed this!"

Du Mont: Watching Your Life-Size TV in Your Sunday Best (1949)
In late 1949, Carl and Marion Nelson had their first child, whom they named Paul. They wouldn't buy their first TV until 1955.
