Slideshow: A History of TV Remote Controls
A remote control was unheard of in the Nelson household -- from December 1955, when my parents bought their first TV, until September 1968, when I left home for college. As a freshman at UB, none of my 4 housemates nor I owned a TV. It wasn't until 1983 when I purchased a television of my own, one equipped with a remote control.
