That Was Then (Shirlington Shopping Center), This Is Now (The Village at Shirlington)



The Shirlington Shopping Center, which opened in 1944, was the first large shopping center to open in suburban  Washington, D. C. and one of the earliest in the United States.  It was renamed as The Village at Shirlington.in the mid-1980s.
