Captain Beefheart, Dead at 69




New York Times obituary.

Saw Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band in concert in Clark Gym on the State University of New at Buffalo in the fall of 1972.  Rockette Morton, the first band member to appear, performed an energetic bass solo while striding every square inch of the stage.  By the time the Captain appeared, the audience was in a frenzy of high expectations.  He and the band delivered.
