June 4, 1992

For the first time since my return from vacation, I'm able to spend a full day at the library.  I walk away with not too much more than a tidier desk to show for it, although a big chunk of time is spent preparing the board report composing the minutes from Tuesday's PLAC meeting.  I pick up the boys and we stop at McDonald's as promised.  My supper is mostly a liquid one.  I nosh on a few McNuggets.  We play in the back yard before bath time.  Eddie goes to bed immediately after his bath, but Andy stays up with me to watch Nick at Nite.

I cruise through the day, taking a little side trip thru the first two sections of my Nuts and Bolts notes and relieving the anxiety of being insufficiently prepared for March 23 and 24.  I still need to spend a lot of time meditating, becoming more familiar with the main points of each of my five or six sections.  I may be doing some major cramming that last weekend.

After work I pick up the boys at daycare.  Today is the first chance that Andy has to see Eddie's new place.  He doesn't seem overly impressed, and the more I see of this Steppingstone location, the less impressed I become.  After turning onto Vernon Road, I realize that I've forgotten Eddie's coat so we circle back.  After supper, Eddie goes to bed early and Andy and I watch Dick Van Dyke on Nick at Nite.

JoAnna leaves for D.C. to attend a convention, but I don't have to drive her to the airport.  Liz calls in sick and my call to Sheila goes unanswered so I leave the library at 1:15, planning to return at 6 for a very much unwanted evening shift.  Sometimes I think Liz does this on purpose.  She wants to be treated like a professional, but she certainly doesn't approach her job in that fashion.  Yesterday she asked about the possibility of upgrading her position to assistant director.  I used the Sheila/Marian analogy to explain why it wouldn't work but left unsaid my concerns about her unprofessional attitude.

Andy and I have a great evening together.  We play his electronic basketball game, Concentration with his Old Maid cards (he slaughters me; I get only one match), Superman, flopping on the bed with our capes on.  We stay up late to watch Green Acres and Mr. Ed on Nick at Nite.
