Close Encounter of the Ornamental Kind

About a month ago, JoAnna and I walked the wooded path along the western side of Stricker Pond and came upon a half dozen or so ornaments hanging from a tree.

Short story idea? I considered.  Where can I take this idea?

So far, nowhere.

The Ponds Walk, Sunday evening, May 15

We have plenty of other routes we can walk -- Lakeview Park, the Pheasant Branch Nature Preserve, to name two -- but the figure 8 walk around Tiedeman and Stricker ponds is the only one where a heron siting takes place.

And JoAnna loves her herons.

Unfortunately, none was spotted on this walk.  (Just a single duck.)

The route.

OK, so it looks more like a lorgnette that someone stepped on.
