I seem to be a little out of focus here.   If not, I should be thankful I have a March 21st appointment with my ophthalmologist.

Outside of Saturday morning cartoonfests, this is one of the first movies I saw at this theater.  Full of strings and sentimentality, it made quite an impression on me.  (I was ten years old at the time.)  

Curiously, it's rarely been shown on television, which has always been my primary conduit to revisiting old movies.

I guess I could move into the 21st century and watch it on YouTube.

Then and Not Quite Now: Jefferson Elementary School, Warren, Pennsylvania

 A new school was constructed on the same site in the early 1950s.  I suspect this photo was taken in the spring of the school's final months of operation.

Since a consolidation of grade schools a few years back, the "new" Jefferson School stands empty, slowly deteriorating through neglect.  (Following 2 photos from October 2008.)

I attended school here from September 1957 until June 1962.

4th grade:  Mrs. Carlson
5th grade:  Mrs. Johnson
6th grad:  Mr. DiMino

The following photos were taken from the upstairs back porch of the Nelson family home in July 2010.  (You can see the house in the black-and-white Borg print, just to the left of the 1st floor of the old Jefferson School.)

Before the school yard was paved over, it served as the playing field for many, many wiffle ball games.

These are beautieful, could you post pics of the Beaty Mansion across from the Playground, and maybe a pic from 11 Wilson Street, it was a pre-fab that my Grandfather ordered and put together from the Sears and Roebuck Catalog over 70-80 years ago.

The 1924 Georgia Mansion, complete with circular driveway, at 224 Conewango Avenue.  (One of my favorite Warren houses.)

The original, 1873 Beaty mansion at 312 Conewango Avenue, much reduced in size.  (The front section was demolished in 1939.)
